North Carolina’s game Tuesday night is against their worst (on paper) opponent of the season, The Citadel. Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, RJ Davis, Leaky Black, Pete Nance, and the rest of the team, however, need to come out and dominate the basketball game to show that Saturday’s result vs. Georgia Tech wasn’t just a one-off, but in fact, what this UNC team is capable of doing.

No. 8 North Carolina made matters look easy today in a win over UNC Wilmington at home, taking the game 64-42. The Tar Heel defense was stout, forcing the Seahawks into 22 turnovers and only 37% shooting. Alyssa Ustby led the way offensively for Carolina with a 16-point, 10-rebound double double on 8-10 shooting. Kennedy Todd-Williams had a pair of threes in her 12 point effort.

Armando Bacot returned to action and North Carolina looked like itself in knocking off Georgia Tech 75-59 on Saturday afternoon inside the Dean E. Smith Center. RJ Davis led all scorers with 22 points (and had a double-double with 10 accompanying rebounds). Bacot also notched a double-double, his 54th career, with 21 and 13. Perhaps most importantly, UNC shared the ball well, led by Caleb Love’s five assists. As a team the Heels assisted on 55.6% of their made field goals, a season high. Freshman Seth Trimble spearheaded the Carolina offense in the important 5:00 closing stretch of the first half, which included the best ball movement possession of the season – ending with a wide-open Pete Nance three-pointer.

The #8 North Carolina Tar Heels took care of Wofford, 99-67 to improve to 8-1. Kennedy Todd-Williams led the Tar Heels in scoring with 20 points and added 9 rebounds in the win. Eva Hodgson also scored 20 and dished out 6 assists, and Alyssa Ustby turned in a 17 point 12 rebound double-double in the win.

UNC Asheville vs. Virginia Tech: The 7th-ranked Hokies improved to 10-0 on the season with a 86-48 win over UNC Asheville. Virginia Tech more than doubled-up the Bulldogs from behind the three-point line, making 11 three-pointers compared to UNC Asheville’s five. Taylor Soule had 21 points to lead the Hokies in scoring. Elizabeth Kitley had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Georgia Amoore was one assist shy of a double-double as she finished the game with 10 points and nine rebounds.
