No. 8 North Carolina had little trouble getting past UNC Wilmington at home, taking the win 64-42. The Tar Heel defense was stout, forcing the Seahawks into 22 turnovers and only 37% shooting. Alyssa Ustby led the way offensively for Carolina with a 16-point, 10-rebound double double on 8-10 shooting. Kennedy Todd-Williams had a pair of threes in her 12 point effort.

Joe Ovies & Joe Giglio out point out that despite the recent struggles for UNC basketball and UNC football, UNC fans have nothing to complain about when it comes to ‘struggling.’

Armando Bacot missed UNC’s ACC opener against Virginia Tech on Sunday. According to Bacot there’s no timetable for his return for the Tar Heels, so RJ Davis, Caleb Love, Leaky Black, and Pete Nance will all have to shoulder more of the load for Hubert Davis’ team.

UNC officially dropped out of the AP poll when it released on Monday. There’s just the 6th preseason AP No. 1 team to ever drop out of the rankings. The NCAA’s NET rankings released on Monday and UNC debuted at No. 39, the 3rd highest ACC team.

North Carolina has taken the unwanted distinction of becoming the first NCAA basketball team to go from ranked No. 1 in the AP 25 poll to dropping out completely. UNC was handed its fourth consecutive loss in an 80-72 defeat against Virginia Tech this past Sunday, December 4th. What’s plaguing the Tar Heels over the past two weeks?
