The North Carolina basketball losing streak has extended to four games and the Tar Heels are in serious jeopardy of dropping out of the AP Top 25 when it refreshes on Monday. Armando Bacot and D’Marco Dunn missed the game with injuries. Dunn will likely be out for some time with a broken hand.

Pete Nance, Caleb Love, and RJ Davis led the Tar Heels with 18 points each as UNC fought back from that exact deficit in the 2nd half. They got Virginia Tech’s lead down to 3 with a Caleb Love free throw to make it two. Love missed and the Heels never again got that close.

Virginia had no trouble handling the visiting UNC Wilmington Seahawks at home, taking the win, 78-36. The Cavaliers’ defense was terrific throughout, holding UNCW to just 25% shooting and forcing 23 turnovers. McKenna Dale led all scorers with 22 points. She’d also pull down 6 rebounds, dish out 3 assists, and swipe 2 steals. Mir McLean had 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals for Virginia.

North Carolina vs. Virginia Tech: The Virginia Tech Hokies handed the No. 18 North Carolina Tar Heels its 4th straight loss with a 80-72 win in Cassell Coliseum on Sunday. Justyn Mutts had a huge game, scoring 21 of his 27 points in the 2nd half to help put the Tar Heels away. Mutts shot 12-16 for the game, made his only three-point attempt, pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in the win. Pete Nance, Caleb Love, and RJ Davis each scored 18 points for the Heels in a losing effort.
