North Carolina begins play in the PK85 Invitational bracket today, Thanksgiving Day. The Tar Heels, led by Armando Bacot, will take on Portland in their first game. Caleb Love & RJ Davis will look to get things going from deep, while Leaky Black will continue with his ball-hawking defense. On Friday, UNC will either take on Iowa St. or Villanova, depending on the outcome of both games.
The Tar Heels are also getting prepared for the final regular season football game, a rivalry matchup with NC State. Drake Maye and company have already locked up a spot in the ACC Championship game but will be looking to avenge both last year’s loss to the Wolfpack and last week’s letdown vs. Georgia Tech.
THI staff writer Jacob Turner and publisher Andrew Jones talk Carolina’s first four games, Caleb Love’s frustrations, Armando Bacot’s improved play against JMU and more before previewing the Tar Heels’ five-game road trip, including the Phil Knight Invitational, on Episode 1 of The UNC Basketball Show.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are headed to Portland, Oregon for the Phil Knight Invitational. But first, Coach Hubert Davis’ team, led by Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, RJ Davis, Leaky Black, and Pete Nance, are coming a four-game homestand to start the season. UNC finished that stretch 4-0 but certainly has room for growth. What did we learn in those four games? Host Isaac Schade and Coach Pac Kilby share some takeaways, good AND bad, from what they witnessed.
Coach Hubert Davis asked the Tar Heels to set some team goals for the year prior to the James Madison game. Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, and company obliged. It only makes sense that we at Locked On Tar Heels would do the same. So host Isaac Schade presents his list of 5 goals for the team.
UNC men’s basketball class of 2023 has officially signed. Sports Illustrated Director of Basketball Recruiting, Jason Jordan, joins the show to talk about the two-man class of Simeon Wilcher and Zayden High. What is their game? How will they factor into the team next season?
The North Carolina Tar Heels took care of the James Madison University Dukes, 80-64. Armando Bacot dominated with a 19 point / 23 rebound double-double. R.J. Davis added 21 points. Leaky Black grabbed 12 rebounds, dished 3 assists and scored 5 points, and Pete Nance scored 11 points and added 4 rebounds for the Tar Heels.

Reblogged 1 year ago from www.youtube.comThe North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team looked like the No. 1 team in the nation for a complete game for the first time this season, knocking off James Madison 80-64. Perhaps not coincidentally, Armando Bacot showed for the first time why he’s the ACC preseason Player of the Year – finishing with 19 points and a career-high 23 rebounds. It’s his 50th career double-double. He and Leaky Black (career high 12 rebounds) combined to outrebound the entire James Madison roster, 35-34. RJ Davis led all scorers with 21 points and added five assists.
UNC head coach Hubert Davis met with the media following the 80-64 win over James Madison on Sunday. Earlier in the week, he asked his team, “to ‘write three to five things of what they want their identity to be’ . What kind of defensive team do you want to be? What kind of offensive team do you want to look like?”
Watch what UNC coach Hubert Davis said about that in his postgame press conference after the win over JMU.
