The North Carolina Tar Heels got off to a “slow start” against College of Charleston. Although they scored 43 first-half points, they trailed by seven at halftime. Armando Bacot only had 1 point and 1 rebound at that juncture. Bacot and Caleb Love exploded in the second half, scoring a combined 44 points. Leaky Black was electric on both ends of the court. RJ Davis just continues to do RJ Davis things. Freshmen Tyler Nickel and Seth Trimble have been aggressive and not afraid of the moment.

College of Charleston vs. North Carolina: The No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels had to put together a big 2nd half to rally past and pull away from College of Charleston, 102-86. The Tar Heels trailed 50-43 at the half, but locked down in the 2nd half and outscored the Cougars 59-36 in the 2nd stanza. Armando Bacot had a dominant half, scoring 27 of his 28 points after the break. Caleb Love scored 25 points with 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the win.

North Carolina was seriously challenged throughout by College of Charleston, but the No.1 Tar Heels ultimately prevailed, pulling away to a biscuits win, 102-86. Carolina trailed by 7 at the half, allowing the Cougars to jump to a 50-43 lead, but fought hard and pulled away in the second half. In a twist, Leaky Black carried the Tar Heel offense in the first half, and finished with 15 points on a perfect 6-6 shooting night. Caleb Love finished with 25 points, Armando Bacot had 28, and RJ Davis had 11.

The North Carolina men’s basketball team is back in action tonight hosting College of Charleston. Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, RJ Davis, Leaky Black, Pete Nance and the rest of Hubert Davis’ squad look to bounce back from their less than stellar season opener. The Tar Heels will look to remind the nation why they are the preseason number one team in the country.

The UNC defense looked strong on Monday, including freshman Seth Trimble, but the offense needs to get back to form.

The freshman forward talks about playing with “a chip on his shoulder” and how he is working to improve his defense.

#12 North Carolina had a picture perfect opening night at Carmichael against Jackson State, taking the win 91-59. Courtney Banghart’s squad turned defense into offense all night, forcing 20 turnovers and scoring 22 points off the opportunities created. And on offense, the Tar Heels simply couldn’t miss at points, shooting a strong 60%. Individually, four Tar Heels scored in double figures: freshman Paulina Paris (13), Eva Hodgson (13), Kennedy Todd-Williams (20), and Alyssa Ustby (19). Ustby added 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
