After nearly beating North Carolina twice in the regular season, Duke scored an upset over the No. 1 Tar Heels in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. Johnny Dawkins and Tommy Amaker led the Blue Devils to a 40-32 halftime advantage. But, UNC went on a 12-2 run to open the second half, tying the score at 44-44 in a game that was close the rest of the way. David Henderson hit four late free throws to keep Duke in the lead, but Micheal Jordan closed the gap to 77-75. Carolina regained possession with three seconds left in the game, but the Tar Heels comeback bid ended with Matt Doherty’s errant inbounds pass. Jordan led all scorers with 22 points, while Doherty scored 20 and grabbed 10 rebounds.

1st official day of UNC Basketball practice for 22-23 | What does Pete Nance bring to the Tar Heels?

North Carolina held their first official basketball practice of the 2022-23 season on Monday, September 26. Hopes are high as the Tar Heels return starters RJ Davis, Caleb Love, Leaky Black, and Armando Bacot from a team that just narrowly lost to Kansas in the National Championship.

How will the team respond to having a massive target on their back? We’ll find out soon enough.

Pete Nance is the lone newcomer to the starting rotation, having transferred in from Northwestern. The son of former NBA player Larry Nance and brother of current NBA player Larry Nance, Jr., Pete brings a wealth of experience, talent, and knowledge with him to Chapel Hill.
