Great Greensboro Moments: North Carolina Claims ACC Tournament Title in Dean Smith's Final Season

In this installment of Great Greensboro Moments we pay tribute to one of the greatest to ever coach.  Dean Smith retired as the winningest coach in college basketball after coaching the North Carolina Tar Heels from 1961-1997.  During that time, Smith led the Heels to two National Championship titles, 11 Final Four appearances 17 ACC regular season championships and an astounding 13 ACC Tournament titles.  Smith’s first ACC Tourney title came in Greensboro in 1967, and in his last season at the helm in 1997, his Tar Heels cut down the nets in Greensboro one last time for him.  Enjoy this look back at Coach Smith’s 1997 title courtesy of the ACC Digital Network.
