Carson Dyle says:

As a Midwesterner in the middle of Big 10 Country, I wanted Illinois to win badly. However I got a bad feeling right from the start when I saw Illinois wearing their road orange jerseys instead of their home white ones. Illinois was the higher ranked team and should have wore their home uniforms while North Carolina wore their road blue uniforms.

bubbanater07 says:

I don't miss Billy Packer

Jamessmack says:

Shut down man on Felton…..1.5 sec later the net is on 🔥 lol

Aaron Rider says:

Good game, UNC the better team, but that officiating between 1:39 and 1:50 is laughably inconsistent. LOL

mike collins says:

louisville basketball its up there 3 championships history , tradition !

enyiga says:

How many threes were made in this game?

Jon Solomon says:

this was such a well played game. I think this Illinois team could be the best team to not win a national title. Man, I dont know how we beat them

j says:

Anybody notice how quickly BOTH teams inbounded the ball after a made basket? I have never seen two teams give less of a shit about the opposing team scoring. Great championship game.

C'mon Man says:

Younng seizin, stfu! Learn the game of basketball before you comment. Illinois was setting illegal screens the ENTIRE game to get open shots from the perimeter, and still couldn't hit the shots. That's why they lost, so stfu with your stupid bullshit.

C. K. says:

A heavyweight showdown.

Other than maybe Kansas/Memphis 2008, the title game hasn't truly felt like THESE ARE THE BEST TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY since this colossal clash.

PhillipG34 says:

Those of u mad at May. His supposed charges that werent called equaled out because Illinois. Had a million illegal screens. So it evened out.

bubbanater07 says:

It amazes me how Illinois fans are still bitching over a game that happened 9 years ago. Maybe because Illinois hasn't done shit since.

jack Long says:

1:39 yes illinois committed moving screens, and weren't called. But this is ridiculous, and is what decided the game,

J20 says:

Felton always looked like hes 30 years old lol

Gary Clutch Clark says:

Are you serious? Do you know how many what ifs UNC fans can play? "What if Stackhouse and Wallace had stayed another year–they would've been on the same team as Vince Carter and Antwan Jamison." We can do this all day and then say we would've won 20 national titles. Check yourself.

globalicon2012 says:

Illinois lost this game because Bruce Weber is an idiot coach who accomplished nothing, and made the worst decisions ever in this game(not attacking felton with 4 fouls, poor defensive strategy on May). James Augustine biggest bust ever mr. big10 mvp disappeared, and the Illinois 3point shooting failed them. Yeah you crybaby Daron Willliams, Luther Head, Roger Powell etc….yet the still lost by only a few points. North Carolina was not that much better as everyone says.

bubbanater07 says:

Billy Packer is a fucking dumb ass thank god he retired.

monsoon231 says:

Illinois's lack of post talent finally showed that night. People can argue otherwise, but it's the truth. You're probably right about the guards, although Felton and McCants was no laughing matter. They were still pretty close.

monsoon231 says:

Do you know John Wall and Kevin Garnett grew up UNC fans? Not to mention I've always heard Dwight Howard would most likely have went to UNC, had he went the college route. Doesn't mean a whole lot.

jets495 says:

Tell me that wasn't back court when Felton got fouled the 2nd time….

Xavier DuBose says:

UNC is a far better program think Louisville will ever be, I respect their championship this year but don't disrespect UNC especially when that program is twice the program Louisville will EVER be, just know your place

Timothy Dudley says:

People don't realize Sean May was about to sign with Louisville. His daddy played for IU. He was close to home. Yet Roy Williams gets him last minute. If Louisville signs him and not worry about Sebastian Telfair and go for May and sign this other guy. Maybe you know him, Rajon Rondo. Can you imagine, May, Rondo, Dean, Garcia, Myles. I guarantee Louisville wins this title. Pitino is quoted as saying those were two of his biggest mistakes ever. Oh well 2013 Champions and Illinois & UNC are nothin

bubbanater07 says:

No one will ever understand what Jawad Williams and Jackie Manual went through as Freshmen.

MC McGee says:

also luther head was actually the leading scorer on illinois

TheMegaBeaver says:

that was the problem with this game, the NCAA tournament is turning into a popularity contest, especially in "underdog" games. I know Illinois was a 1 seed but it was their first year being great.

TheMegaBeaver says:

dee broke his foot shortly after this game thats why his career isnt where it should be

Jerel Applewhite says:

Can't believe it's been 8 years. Go Heels!!!

jydaflyest says:

And your point is what again?

jydaflyest says:

After going 8-20 in the 2001/02 season, winning it all 4 seasons later just seemed surreal. I remember jamming to Petey Pablo's "North Carolina" the next day. When that song hit the airwaves, I promised to play it when the Tar Heels won a national championship. Oh, how sweet it is.

jydaflyest says:

James Augustine had what was possibly the worst night of his basketball career.
