Randall Madison says:

I loved Phil Ford. But, I think of those ridiculous times when Dean would use the Four Corners. For those to young to remember, consider yourself fortunate. Thank goodness for the shot clock.

kenney0313 says:

Phil is the BLUEPRINT for how to play PG.

David Loman says:

Phil should of won the National Championship game in 1977. We went to the four corners a little early that game and Coach Smith refused to call a time out in the second half just to get our best scorer, Mike Okoren back in the game. He sat at the scorers table and watched alot of the second half just like us fans. One that got away. He's still the best pure point guard in ACC history. Go Heels!!

Calvin Richmond says:

My first childhood idol…as luck would have it Phil came to sell Fords at a dealership near my home. I spent the whole summer trying to conjure up enough nerve to go meet him. Unfortunately, I always chickened out.

Jimbo321 says:

Phil Ford the greatest tarheel ever.

Wun Foe says:

Phil should have been a head coach. His loyalty to UNC is unquestionable.
Davis should get the job. If not, I would look outside the program to hire from a pool of coaches (winners) such as Few, Oats, or Moton. Unfortunately, there are no current good winning coaches that are former players.

Ivy J Layman says:

Phil was what changed basketball and coach Smith.

revpgesqredux says:

Everyman can grill a steak, design a golf course and coach a basketball team.

revpgesqredux says:

Love the camaraderie

Steve Helton says:

Phil should be the coach.

The four corners helped some teams keep a lead that they would normally relinquish if they didn't. The bottom line is all teams weren't created equal. However; if a team weren't very good defensively or offensively they could keep the ball away from a team that was far superior athletically and mentally. The four corners was a weapon for the weaker teams and it is no more different today because there are teams that have far better inside players and guards that could score with ease when they played teams with lesser ability and coordination. Still the game is better today for the fans and while I applaud the use of different tactics by teams with lesser skills, I do not want to go back in time when UNC won games that were boring for the fans. Still I stay loyal to UNC and in the end do whatever it takes to discombobulate the other team. The greatest college sport is Basketball without exception and I am glad to be a fan of UNC.
