The stunning explosiveness of James Worthy's power, extension, and grace on full display at the 1:15.30 mark of this video.

David Elswick says:

I was 12 and as a Kentucky fan I was very pumped for this game. It was a rough day in the bluegrass that day: This was a noon game and UK fell 82-69. A couple hours later, in another national game (Billy Packer did that one), DePaul downed Louisville 75-68.

"Mike" Jordan? i've never heard any announcer refer to him other than Michael….

Carlson Smith says:

My friends and I went to this game. It was very early in the season, between Christmas and New Year's Eve of 1981. We bought tickets early because it seemed intriguing to watch #1 and #2 play each other, but I don't remember it being full. The atmosphere was somewhat subdued because neither NC nor Kentucky was the home team. When they announced the players at the beginning, we commented how rare it was for NC, being such a powerhouse, to have a freshman in the starting line-up. We had never heard of Michael Jordan before.

uncbb89 says:

I think this was the first major game in the Meadowlands Arena. Was not the last by a long shot for Carolina. Played four times in the East Regional and had several neutral site games.

Brian Bullard says:

Sam Bowie or Jordan? Hmmmm tough callπŸ˜›πŸ˜‰πŸ˜€πŸ˜…

532.5 BAY AREA says:

It's a trip the next 3 UNC Coaches after Dean Smith are involved with this game. You see Gutheridge & William's on the bench while Doherty (Spell check) is playing.

John Paulson says:

Game date is actually 12-26-81. On Sunday both New York NFL teams played in the wild card game
