The sweet 16 and possibly more is an outstanding place for a first year coach this time of the year.
Back in the day, the word was the Dean Smith didn't want to recruit Hubert but did so as a favor to his uncle Walter Davis. After a great college run and later solid pro career, now the head coach. Amazing.
I'm a Tar heel born and a Tar heel bred, and when I die I'll be Tar heel dead. I'm 100% behind coach Davis and I always thought he was the right man for the job. That being said, this team is a team Roy William's built but coached by Hubert. The true test will come in the years to come as we see him build and coach his own teams.
