UNC was able to move onto the Elite 8 after a fantastic win over UCLA in what was a great game. Armando Bacot tipped in the shot that gave UNC a 5 point lead late, but it was Caleb Love who turned it on in the 2nd half.

This game was decided on time zone and proximity to campus. Had this been played in the Mountain or Pacific time zone UCLA would have likely won. The Tar Heels had more fans in Philly too. Tired UCLA legs from flying from Portland cross country probably resulted in several missed shots. Arkansas on the other hand gets full credit for beating Gonzaga as they flew from Buffalo to San Francisco and won. Although as in the NFL and NBA always easier for a eastern team to go west than vice versa with jet lag and time zone issues.

The save from out of bounds was the game changer with under 3 minutes left.If UCLA rebounds the ball they might have scored on the other end and been up by 5 or 6,great play by N.C.
Coach Hubert Davis has something very special about him that is almost a mystery. You just can’t put a finger on it. Coach Davis has something inside about the way he coaches. It’s just like how can some people play music by ear? How can some people play a guitar by ear? How can some people play the piano by ear? I think Hubert Davis has a gift of coaching without experience. I think it’s a natural talent for him. I think that he naturally has a gift from God about coaching. I don’t know we don’t know we don’t know how he does it it’s something that again we just can’t wrap our arms around. Some people just were born to eventually discover their undiscovered talent. I think that Hubert Davis has found what he enjoys doing best. I think he’s gifted at coaching without experience somehow. I think it’s will.
