The rivalry can never be damaged

are you two high? that was the dumbest thing i've ever watched.
in no way is this damaging to the rivalry. this wouldn't have been damaging to the rivalry if duke won a tight game. the only way this would have been damaging to the rivalry is if one of the teams won by 20+ and everyone outside of the duke/unc fan bases were just like "oh well this rivalry is clearly dumb."
going forward, there are two major things that can actually hurt the rivalry:
1) if unc keeps having up and down years like they have for the last decade, the increasing parity in cbb will cause them to be less relevant and the rivalry will suffer
2) most of dukes coaches have been garbage to mediocre when they went to other schools, and if scheyer follows that trend, the quality of duke bb will go down and the rivalry will suffer
the rivalry has certainly hit a short term peak for obvious reasons, but if hubert continues to do well and scheyer doesn't suck, we've got a couple decades of guaranteed great basketball in the triangle. kenny smith said it last night: the two teams need each other to be good.
Damaging to the rivalry? It defines the truth of the rivalry. UNC has always been the better.
I never understood, Duke—supposedly the best of the best, selected John Scheyer as their next coach???
Honestly, they could pull almost any college coach in to coach Duke, and they select this kid to coach the mighty Duke. Give me a break.
I think K will be behind the curtain like the Mighty Oz pulling the strings.

The only way Duke can come back from this would be to beat UNC in a national championship game. But the odds of both of them making it to that in the same year are so small. Heck it took this long just for them to meet for the first time in the tournament
