Kansas is not battle tested in this tournament … go UNC !
UNC is the Tom Brady of college basketball…sustained excellence for a very very long time. Dean Smith laid the foundation for a program that has been at the top for nearly 50 years now. Mike’s journey mimics that of the Steelers…great early with sporadic peaks thereafter…good but not great for a dozen or so years now. Overall, he can be proud of what he accomplished but you could not have scripted a worse ending for him. In a hundred years or so, hopefully perhaps the pain of these two losses will begin to subside for his descendants and whatever Blue Devil fans still remain. Don’t be surprised if Hubert Davis wins many titles….
I always laugh when people mention the Chris Webber timeout in 93 because they always fail to mention what happened a few seconds before the T/O. Webber blatantly walked with the ball (listen to commentator Billy Packer yell it out), so it should have been a turnover, Carolina ball and Michigan having to foul already down 2 points with 15 seconds left and no timeouts. I can't give out my sources but I have it on good authority that Coach K had to retire due to some very unethical things he did and Duke is punishing him by making him retire early.
When Hubert Davis was a skinny kid playing at UNC he had a silky smooth jumper and he always showed up to play, but he was never the player everyone talked about being the guy the other team needed to stop. Don't Underestimate Hubert Davis. He gets it done… always has.
