Multiple of the best coaches in history have been part of this rivalry: Dean Smith, Roy Williams, Mike Krzyzewski. Several of the biggest names in college basketball history have shared the same stage – Michael Jordan, Phil Ford, Tyler Hansbrough and more for UNC; Christian Laettner, Grant Hill, JJ Redick and more for Duke.

I believe you have been retired 5 years before HOF
Here is a big factor in the difference between the Tar Heel’s and dook. UNC has sent players early to the NBA since the 1970’s. Dook’s first early entry….1999. Plus it has been well documented that Coach k lost his mind when Corey Maggetti and Elton Brand left early. K told Corey and his parents that he was going to ruin his program. Could you ever imagine Coach Dean Smith doing this? No! Because that is not the Carolina Way. Coach Smith ALWAYS did what was best for his players. He did not put the Program or himself before the well being of his players. Now everyone’s perception is that dook has put players early into the NBA forever and once again that is not the case at all. It was almost the year 2000 for dook and once again we were doing this in the 70’s. Imagine what our Teams would have been like if we hadn’t lost any of our players until almost 2000! McAdoo, Worthy, Michael, Stackhouse, Rasheed, Vince, Antawn, etc….Now how would dook’s teams been if they had lost Ferry, Hurley, Hill, Lauitner etc… Hmmm. Vince Carter will also be in the Hall of Fame when it’s time. Danny Green also would have been the MVP of the Finals with the Spurs and Heat if Ray Allen doesn’t flip the series with his corner 3 pointer.
Kangaroo Kid won a title in 83 as the coach
Bob McAdoo won 2 titles in '12 and '13 as an assistant
Mitch Kupchack won 3 as GM
I am trying to remember, when you include a coach or assistant or GM with players, who were Tar Heel basketball players if the total of NBA titles is 50 or not, if you are able to get ahold of Adam Lucas, I believe he would have the answer
