North Carolina class of 2023 basketball commit GG Jackson was in the headlines this weekend. On3’s Jamie Shaw posted wrote an article stating that Jackson was considering de-committing from UNC to go to South Carolina, the G-league, or potentially Oregon. Included in this mix is the re-consideration of reclassifying to the class of 2022.
The Carolina Family got rather worked up about the issue, but Jackson, himself, said on Monday that it’s just rumors. At this point, all indications are still that he’ll come to Chapel Hill to play for Hubert Davis and alongside a great core including players such as RJ Davis, Dontrez Styles, D’Marco Dunn, Jalen Washington, Seth Trimble, Tyler Nickel, Will Shaver, and Simeon Wilcher.

I started having JR Smith flashbacks. It wasn't pretty.
If he wanted to reclassify – the Tarheels would probably make that happen. With the NIL money being so large, a current scholarship player could easily give up their scholarship, and just grab a NIL deal equal to the added tuitoin cost.
No disrespect to you but first of all South Carolina beat Duke in 2017 not 2016 and you saying GG already had a fan base behind him the whole state as a whole is behind GG just like Zion and Ja do.
I assume you recorded this before he went on Instagram live and dispelled the "rumors", but it probably isn't/wasn't the greatest thing to do to post this after it was debunked directly from gg himself. Go heels

Fact: Caleb Love was begging GG to reclassify and GG and his Family kept saying he was not ready. He wanted to work on his body, strength and polish up his game. Pete Nance has zero to do with this. Even right now if GG wanted and decided to reclassify we would take him because their is creative ways to open up a scholarship for players. Coach Davis went to Mexico to support GG and Seth when they were playing for Team USA last month. Coach Davis and the entire coaching staff went to Florida to see GG, Simeon and possible new recruits at the NBA 100 camp last week. Coach Davis went to visit GG right before we played dook in the Final Four. Point being is that UNC has shown their absolute loyalty to GG and his Family. GG will remain a Tar Heel. With NIL and his overall exposure he will be in a perfect setting to be on a National Title Contending Team and for the world to best see his God given talents and profit on that for college and the pro’s. We will win with you or without you DES. GG we can’t wait for you to get to Chapel Hill!! You are going to have a Blast and create lifelong lasting and historic memories. #TarHeelFamily
