North Carolina took a big hit when GG Jackson decommitted, reclassified, and ultimately wound up committing to South Carolina. Players of his caliber don’t come along every day. Rather than bemoan the loss, Coach Hubert Davis and his staff have to find a way to bounce back. One of the ways they’ve done so is pursuing other power forwards in the class of 2023 including TJ Power, who, according to Sports Illustrated’s Jason Jordan is a better shooter than Jackson.
Power has narrowed his college candidates down to North Carolina, Duke, Boston College, Virginia, and Iowa. He currently anticipates making a decision in September, just about a month away. The Tar Heels could certainly use some help in the frontcourt for the 2023-24 class, assuming Armando Bacot doesn’t return for a fifth year.
