North Carolina At Chapel Hill

The UNC Women’s basketball team is expecting big things in Coach Courtney Banghart’s fourth year in Chapel Hill. The team is returning four starters from a Sweet 16 team that gave eventual national champion South Carolina a run for their money.

Deja Kelly, Alyssa Utsby, Kennedy Todd-Williams, and Anya Poole are the four returning starters while Eva Hodgson projects to join them in the starting lineup. Despite not starting last season, Hodgson averaged 25 minutes a game and should slot seamlessly into the lineup.

In addition to the experienced talent, the Tar Heels have a bevy of newcomers and players returning from injury who will bring youth and excitement to the team.

A key to success for the women will be replacing Carlie Littlefield’s on and off-court leadership acumen. It will important that someone takes over those reins.

The Tar Heels return their top four scorers, their top two three-point shooters, not to mention that Hodgson is third among active DI players in career three-point percentage.

It should be another great year for the women. Make sure you tune in for Live Action on Friday evening and mark your calendars for the first regular season game which is Wednesday, November 9.
