North Carolina At Chapel Hill

The North Carolina Tar Heels dominated Johnson C. Smith last Friday evening in their lone exhibition game of the 2022-23 season. Caleb Love led all scorers with 20 points, followed by Pete Nance’s 19. Armando Bacot had 20 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action. Four Tar Heels sat out the game, including RJ Davis, Puff Johnson, Jalen Washington, and Justin McKoy. Coach Hubert Davis expects to have his entire starting lineup of Davis, Love, Leaky Black, Bacot, and Nance ready to go for Monday’s season-opener against UNC-Wilmington.

Starting in RJ Davis’ place was sophomore D’Marco Dunn who is showing signs of being a far-bigger contributor to the team than most people expected during the offseason. If Dunn and freshman Seth Trimble can provide legitimate, reliable back-up minutes in the backcourt, RJ Davis and Caleb Love should be all the more effective in their minutes.
