It took Jeff Lebo’s “on the fly” drawn up play to get North Carolina to overtime, but Hubert Davis’ bunch did what they needed to to knock off Ohio State. Leaky Black’s back-to-back passes helped set up the game-tying shot from Pete Nance. Armando Bacot had a monster game with 28 points and 15 rebounds. He was one of three 20-point scorers for the Heels, with Caleb Love and RJ Davis being the others.
The Tar Heels pick up their first Quad 1 win of the season, which will have staying power all the way through to Selection Sunday. Isaac Schade predicts this moment will be the turning point of the season.

What do you think about the new OC?
Caleb shot those shots last year and he made them all y’all said he was great nice shot now he is bad cmon don’t switch up
Great game. Thanks for the awesome review. Love this channel especially since I currently live in Shreveport, LA!
They can shoot threes the problem is to many times they are trying to create a three instead of taking the three that's available. This is something that Hubert needs to start stressing
RJ Davis was doing some Marcus Paige-ian stuff for a healthy stretch in the second half. What a delightful player to watch.
This win was reminiscent of Dean Smith. A close game comes down to 2 seconds and you strategically get it to half court and get the time out then send it to OT with 1.2 seconds on the clock. That's epic. An adjustment was made. We increased the defensive pressure and Ohio State was shocked out of their comfort zone when we put game pressure on them in crunch time. That was huge. We were coming and they were knocked back. We made play after play to take it from down double digits and force overtime. We then kept coming and executed in the extra period. That's what champions do!
I feel like the Assistant Coaches never get enough credit for what they do and I love that Coach Davis showcased that it was Coach Lebo's play for the players. I don't know what Coach said to the players at half time, but whatever it was spilled into the second and they came back to within 1 point. They fall back behind by 11. I was watching and I said come on guys remember what was said at the half to get your spark. Get a stop. Score some points. Get another stop. Score some more points. Do that in a minute and you can absolutely win this game. THEN that happened.
Then Pete had what I'd call his first Tar Heel Moment. The moment where everyone knows oh I can count on Pete to make a late second shot in either shot clock situation, heading into the half, heading at the end of the game when you are down or need a clutch shot. The unexpected play. I was thinking if they call this play on Armando, RJ or Caleb, their whole defense will be on them. They should call for a play for Pete. The unknown. Well DANG I called it.
I also loved what Armando said after the game. His love for UNC. That boy is a Tar Heel through and through.
I honestly think a case could be made that this was Coach Davis's best coached game of his career so far. Whatever he said to the team at halftime worked. He got them to rise to the occasion. Whenever they were in a slump in the second half, he got them to lock back in. He very cleverly used both of his last timeouts to draw up plays that helped us tie the game and force OT. His trust in Coach Lebo is also a huge thing; he could have overruled his play, but he didn't. He trusts his staff and he trusts his players to execute. I was very impressed by Coach Davis this game. He is still new and has lots to learn, but he took great strides and showed why Coach Williams chose him in the first place.
This was definitely the most exiting game I been to
