North Carolina non-conference recap & ACC schedule look-ahead | Where will UNC finish in ACC?

North Carolina finishes the non-conference portion of the 2022-23 college basketball schedule on a four-game winning streak (Georgia Tech, The Citadel, Ohio State, Michigan), which follows a four-game losing streak (Iowa State, Alabama, Indiana, Virginia Tech). Armando Bacot has been rounding into form as he gets seemingly healthier and healthier.

Coach Pac Kilby joins host Isaac Schade to look back at surprises and disappointments of the non-con part of the schedule, including Leaky Black, Tyler Nickel, & D’Marco Dunn on the positive surprise side, while the backcourt and Dontrez Styles round out the disappointed side of things.

The guys then turn to talking about storylines they’re keeping an eye on heading into ACC play. This includes assist percentage, use of depth, defensive consistency, Bacot’s progression, three-point shooting, and Jalen Washington.

Finally, the conversation turns to conference predictions – what will UNC’s ACC record be?, where will the Tar Heels finish in the regular season ACC standings?, and who will be the top-four ACC teams?

Locked On Tar Heels says:

What do you think Carolina’s ACC record and finish will be?

Joe Horton says:

I’m disappointed that it seems at times Carolina Tar Heels on offense does not go to the basket with intentions.

Gracen Donald says:

I agree with Pac!

James Pruett says:

Clemson beat Wake and Wake beat Duke

James Pruett says:

That's been Virginia's style under Bennet most of their games are in the 40 and 50s

James Pruett says:

They are playing now like last year before Manek was a starter know I see how good Brady was.

Tony Dowd says:

15-3 ACC remaining conference play.
Not surprised with Leaky. 6'8" 5th year senior. Been looking forward to seeing double doubles from Leaky. It'll happen.

Ron Lytle says:

Leaky is transforming from lockdown Leaky to knockdown Leaky

Garrett Clemmons says:

Virginia isn't dominate at all. I don't understand how you can pick Virginia. They haven't scored over 60 points Ina game. Honestly unc is just the better team by far and I'd be surprised if uva beat unc once. Hubert knows how to coach against uva . I think miami is more dominant by far.

Garrett Clemmons says:

The guards are not a disappointment, they have been averaging quite a few points, now that they are passing the ball I think they have fixed some of those issues. That's definitely not my biggest concern as I think rj and caleb will be fine. I thought there shooting would be a little better but they have been doing fine as of recent. Its now January where I think this team has finally cut the cord to last year. As long as they take care of the ball and get armando the ball on the block
