Elliot Cadeau and James Brown (both class of 2024) are top 30 recruits who have both committed to UNC within the past week. Cadeau, the No. 1 PG in the class (top 10 overall) announced his commitment last Wednesday, followed by James Brown (top 5 C, top 30 overall) announcing on Monday, January 2.

These two commitments give the Tar Heels the early lead in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Why is this a big deal? Jason Jordan joins host Isaac Schade to unpack it.

Cadeau is a true playmaking, pass-first point guard, the likes of which UNC hasn’t experienced since Kendall Marshall. The difference is that Cadeau is a more athletic player, the highest-ranked commit for UNC since Cole Anthony. Cadeau is already 18 and will possibly reclass to 2023, depending on how UNC’s roster shapes up.

Brown is a traditional big, who knows, and embraces, his role in the paint. He can go to work with both hands and frustrates opponents with his abilities in the post.
