North Carolina, despite a few more losses than expected, has a top-10 non-conference strength of schedule, a claim that only one other Power 5 school (Alabama) can make. Although they’ve racked up five losses, Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, RJ Davis, Leaky Black, Pete Nance, and company have been competitive in every game, save the Indiana game. Their average margin of defeat in those losses is 5.8 points.
The Tar Heels host Notre Dame on Saturday looking to get their conference record above .500 for the first time this season. Despite the Irish typically playing UNC tough, they are frankly not very good this season. One area to watch is the free throw line, where the Tar Heels make a killing, but the Irish are elite at not sending opponents to the line.
The lady Tar Heels unfortunately suffered their fourth straight loss on Thursday night at Miami and will look to bounce back on Sunday when fourth-ranked Notre Dame comes calling.

The main thing I'm looking for is defense. We have seen spurts of fantastic defense from this team. However, I'd like to see it for the majority of the game if possible. Don't let teams, especially ones worse than you, get on a hot scoring streak. We could seriously have blown out many teams if our defensive pressure was better. I really love Seth, but it shouldn't take him being on the court for the rest of the guys to lock in defensively.
Styles has it tough because he's 6'6" and plays the wing. Either Leaky plays the 3 or they going with the 3-guard lineup. Keep working in practice. As for Tyler, he has to get better on defense. That's his achilles heel. I don't think he should transfer or even think about it. It's a process. See the bigger picture. Same with Dontrez. We lose alot next season, so look at it like that. Both will have to keep work,work and work some more. Bottom line.
I agree we have 0 bad losses and have better wins than at this time last season.. it looks worse bc I just checked last season and we were sitting round 12-4 record not 10-5 but hopefully we continue up we need to win all our home games this season period and we should. Umm let's hope nate does not go off!! Let's not say that lol coach Davis should put leaky on him not bacot
Even if Nance can play he needs to ride the pine. I got him on my all airport team. Love needs to sit right beside him if not further. Davis is going to lose at least 3 guys to portal because of Davis s arrogant coaching. It no reason why Styles and Nickels and Washington aren't playing more minutes. Davis said he goes by practice. That means Love and Davis must not be missing a shot in practice. Styles play big last year in the tournament. He is the only player on the team that plays above the cylinder. Bacot still not finishing at the rim. He misses a ton of bunnies. Davis needs to give the bench more minutes all together. I still say the loss of the kid that ditched the Heels an went to South Carolina was a big disappointment mentally to this team. The reason he left might be he read the future that he would be sitting on the pine like Styles – Nickel and Washington. At least at South Carolina he will get big time minutes.
Tyler needs some playing time afraid he will transfer.
I agree the charges have been blown out of proportions in college basketball. I really really hate the calls most refs call, most of them are glorified flops.

I know it's early in the year Isaac but it is 2023 lol.
If Nance can't go, I expect McCoy to get the nod to start. WF has a big frontcourt duo (7'1 and 6'10) and given Washington's quick fouls when he came in last game. I expect McCoy going to be who Hubert thinks gives them the best match up at the outset of the game. Trimble will be the 1st off the bench and there will be 20+ minutes of the 3 guard lineup.
Issac, my concern with Carolina is not so much Caleb's inconsistencies, but more about Pete Nance. I certainly hope he's ok and heals quickly and completely. But…..what is up with his game to game performance?? After 4 years in the big 10, why isn't he averaging double doubles. At least 10 ppg and 10 rbg should be a minimum expected of him. I don't have access to his stats, but I don't feel he's near that. Color me very disappointed.
I think Jalen Washington should start at the 4 position if Nance is out. Seth needs to start and keep Caleb on the bench for at least the first half of the ND game.
