In Pete Nance’s absence, Coach Hubert Davis went with Seth Trimble as his fifth starter on Saturday vs. Notre Dame alongside the other four typical starters – Armando Bacot, RJ Davis, Caleb Love, and Leaky Black. The result was an 81-64 record for the Tar Heels.
Bacot had 21 points and 13 rebounds, notching his 5th straight game of 20+ points. Historically, he moved into sole possession of 2nd place on the UNC career rebounding list, passing Sam Perkins and is just 50 rebounds shy of tying Tyler Hansbrough for first place.
The bench contributed 22 points, led by Puff Johnson’s 11, on 8-12 shooting and 3-6 from three.
Carolina travels to Charlottesville on Tuesday for a massive ACC showdown.
The women’s basketball team got back to their winning ways, knocking off the 4th-ranked Irish. Paulina Paris was Carolina’s leading scorer, including netting UNC’s first 11 points of the 4th quarter.

Nance will remain the starter – All analytics shows that the teams best when he's on the floor with any combination of players.
Without Nance this team has 3 more losses
Nance isn't the problem with this team – Complacency, Turnovers, and lack of consistent Substitution has hurt this team.
I love trimble a lot..think he's going to be dangerous when his offensive game catches up with his defense… however, i think we allow for Pete to continue to start. We need his size, occasional shooting(hoping it starts to fall more), etc. Seth is a tempo changer so HD doesn't need to hesitate to sub him in. I believe the past two games have just been favorable matchups for us
Makes our lineup really short. Bacot is a workhorse but for strong front court teams I see some defensive matchup and rebounding problems.
I agree I think Hubert should leave trimble is starting 5 but he won't watch.. but he should let Pete come off bench as 6th man this 3 guard lineup is quick and pesky on defense

Seth is definitely finding his "shot" as he went 4 for 4 from the floor. Dunn and Washington are going to be huge for UNC down the stretch. Washington needs to make some adjustments on defense as he's leaving his man alone waaaaaay to much.
The reason we suck when nance is on the floor is he doesn’t stretch the floor at an elite level and he gets bullied in the paint. I’ve consistently seen him be boxed out by a 6’3 gaurd he’s soft
I agree 10000%.. I said this right after the Wake Forest game. That 3 guard lineup was the best basketball we have played all year. I know Seth doesn't have a great offensive game yet, but neither did Nance. The difference is though, Seth's defense is much better than Nance's.
You mentioned one of the primary things I have been arguing as it comes to Manek's effectiveness. Yes, he was a serious threat for the 3 ball, but it was the spacing that provided which was extremely valuable. I'm still not sure that Davis would ride with this lineup, though. If he does, I sure would feel bad for Nance. Obviously it is a team-first game and I want what is best for the team, but Nance wanted to showcase his skill in a different way than he could at NWestern. IMO his draft stock would likely take a hit.
