Ben Vander Plas put up a game-high 17 points off the bench for the Cavaliers while adding 8 rebounds. Reece Beekman added 13 points and 5 assists, and Armaan Franklin had 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Armando Bacot suffered an apparent ankle injury just more than a minute into the game for the Tar Heels, and freshman Jalen Washington stepped into his biggest role of the season, posting a season-high 13 points in the loss. Caleb Love hit some clutch shots to keep it close late and finished with 13 points, and RJ Davis led the scoring for the Heels with 16.
