North Carolina picks up their second true road win of the season at Syracuse thanks to a Pete Nance putback in the final minute of the game. UNC led the majority of the game, but Syracuse took a lead late on a Joe Girard three-pointer and looked as if the Orange might do enough to win at home.
Nance led all scorers with 21 points and also had four steals, but most importantly played the pivotal role of facilitator against Syracuse’s zone. To wit – Carolina finishes with 20 assists on 26 made baskets, a season high 76.9%.
Caleb Love might be coming out of his shooting slump as he started the game 3-3 from deep, not to mention managed the game well and made good decisions.
RJ Davis got really beat up in this game including drawing an offensive foul on Judah Mintz in the final minute that sent him to the locker room.

Was l the only one annoyed when l saw the Bracketology with Duke a 5 seed and UNC a 8 seed. Obviously that's not the real thing but that is one of the stupidest things l saw all day yesterday. Lol. I was like OH please
Nance should have had 30 points he missed alot of bunnies plus the last play of the game he almost botched the Lay up but nevertheless he scored we won the game ready for performance Caleb love played great Armando bacot play great and the player of the game no other than RJ Davis he stuck his nose in there for the team on the charge hell of a defensive play RJ is my player of the game

I think Tyler definitely stepped up last night. Really established himself as a defender. Looking forward to seeing him to continue to improve as the season plays out.
It is a shame that we have to keep talking about the refs, but alas, the refs keep giving us reason to talk about them. The amount of missed calls when Syracuse was defending Mando was blatantly bad. If a team is allowed to play defense like that then the other team can't score. How do you expect anyone to score when they're constantly getting hit in the arms and face with no call?
While I hear and agree with everybody talking about Nance needing to be more efficient, at the end of the day, his aggression and overall good playmaking won us the game. I really like how both him and Bacot operated in the paint. His efficiency will continue to improve as he himself improves. Even his defense looked a lot better. Up until this game, his defense has been inconsistent at best, but here I overall think he did a great job, as evident by the steals he had. I think Pete is slowly but surely finding his spot on this team, and I'm excited to see him fully click with everybody else.

The refs did a horrible job officiating during the entire game. Armando, RJ, and Caleb were getting pushed, slapped, and elbowed the entire game. Also, Leaky was getting calls made against him when the opposing player initiated/forced the contact. I'm happy with the win, but it was frustrating to watch. I hope RJ is ok…

I will say, I was impressed with Nance tonight in the high key role. I too thought Leaky would've been that guy with his PG background and playmaking ability.
That would've had Mondo and Nance in both baseline "dunker spots". Eventually the two zone corners start to sink leaving RJ and Caleb able to slide into the open spots for easy looks.
Worked out. We won. Nance made better and more decisive decisions than I thought he would. He did have a couple lazy awkward turnovers, but on the whole he did well.
End of the day, should've been a blow out, but considering we played 5 on 8 all night, a dub is a dub.
The game ball has to go to Caleb Love tonight. He played a great game tonight. If they can get that every night from him the Heels will be the last man standing in March. Leaky needs to start driving to the basket . It fools gold to think he going to constantly hit 3s. Another concerning thing about Leaky is he is going for too many pump fakes. That happened twice last night an it ended up in 2 3s. He is still a good defender but he has to stay on the floor.
Nance needs to stop fading away and shooting off balance. Everytime he was set he made the shot.
