REACTION: UNC can't handle Miami | Leaky Black: player of the game | Women's tennis champs!

North Carolina wasn’t able to build on the momentum they created at home on Saturday against Clemson. Miami came into Chapel Hill on Monday and beat UNC 80-72. As good as Carolina was shooting the ball on Saturday, they were that bad on Monday night. Miami essentially neutralized Armando Bacot and no shooters were consistently albe to make the Hurricanes pay outside.

Leaky Black was the player of the game for UNC, finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds and allowing Isaiah Wong just 2 points. Carolina still hasn’t found the right combination at the 4. Is it Pete Nance? Is it Puff Johnson? Is it Jalen Washington?

Host Isaac Schade shares his Four Corners Recap and Schadey stat of the game, plus celebrates the women’s tennis team.

I’m not with the fire Hubert yet… but I think this squad needs to be blown up it’s been 3 years and this squad is what they are a mediocre bunch who got hot last year late and Brady was the difference! This team has been bad for 3 years and that’s not changing and whoever thinks it will get better will only be disappointed it’s time to focus on next year and a brand new starting 5

Squishy McSquisherson says:

A lot of non basketball players in the comments. It's glaring. I don't have the time or patience anymore to educate people.

The biggest problem with this team is not the coaching. It's not the plays. It's not the shooting. The roster is missing one key element that throws the WHOLE team off balance. And go ask anyone who's played this game (beyond HS JV) This team does NOT have a lead guard. An actual PG. We have a backcourt of scorers masking as Point Guards. And the myriad of things that causes this team issues would all be rectified with a pure PG.

The biggest key stat last night. 37 combined shots from Caleb and RJ. 6 for Mondo. SIX. And when he did get the ball he was 10 feet off the block, at the top of the key with 2 seconds to shoot. He sealed his man with 2 feet in the paint several times with no one looking his way. The minute Miami's big went out with 2 fouls in the first half it should've been feeding time. Mondo should've had 20 by halftime.

Caleb and RJ are out of position. This could be a DEADLY 3 guard team with Leaky at the 4…. IF we had a PG that could run the show. We do not. We aren't going to have one next year either unless Elliott reclasses.

A real PG would've dropped a dozen assists to Mondo last night, scored 0 points and have been ECSTATIC! Not our guards. They jacked up almost 40 shots. There is your biggest issue.

They also turn the ball over a lot, don't run any assemblence of a break, main or secondary. You don't need creative play calling. You can P&R a team to death by running it all game. A real PG knows you can do more off that action than shoot or force it to the roll man. You have to identify the defenses reaction and adjustment and then move the ball accordingly. Having a real PG on this roster would erase almost ALL of our inefficiencies and would have actually made both RJ and Caleb better, because they are natural scorers, not playmakers.

Louis Moore says:

Pete Nance is one player I can't wait to see off this team.

Chris Graham says:

Carolina runs no plays they are so predictable. They are going to need a new coach 20 losses in 2 years an counting when did that become acceptable. Hubert Davis makes no adjustments he is out coached every game time for a change hard to watch this team shoot the ball.

Silas 4475 says:

We came out flat and shooting 9% from three is pathetic. But the biggest issue is rotation. All those coaches on the UNC bench and none of them can figure out how to operate the bench effectively. This sucks!

Carl Dise says:

Leaky was the only player with any intensity last night. Once again no bench usage(other than Puff).

jv America says:

Hubert smh, bro call time outs. These young men cannot straighten out the bad plays, they cannot be held responsible for that. Pete no buckets Nance should not be starting. Bacot fouls stupidly.

Tony Dowd says:

There is a reason Miami has won 20 games. They're a dad gum good basketball game. Carolina is a good team, but not a great team. They unfortunately got away from taking the ball inside. Puff hasn't had the opportunity to develop his potential, and Pete is too mental. We didn't take advantage of our height.
DUNK EVERYTHING

Aiden Hager says:

100% a coaching issue.

Rob M says:

First of all, there is a serious mental health issue in this country that is not being dealt with. We need to stop distancing ourselves from each other and start caring for one another. If not, we are going to see more and more people breaking and doing unspeakable things. Prayers to all those affected by this.

On to basketball. Agree with you 100%, Isaac. One, I was tweeting last night that UNC got all those drives when Omier was on the bench. Bacot did a great job walling off his defender so the guards could get to the rim. That wasn't happening with Omier in the game. He was too strong for Bacot. Two, the 3's they were taking against Clemson came in the flow of the offense. Many off of extra passes. They were good looks and yes, they were falling. UNC reverted back to their regular MO when they got a bit frustrated. In this game, I would have loved to see Leaky posting up some. He has a decent touch on those short jumpers and def had the length advantage against Miami.

I think we all want so much to see this team the way we remember them at the end of last year, but the reality is that this is who they are. They never should have been #1, and we never should have expected them to be the best team in the country. Would have missed the tourney in '20, barely made it and first ever 1st round loss in "21, and got hot for 6 games in '22. This team as been average for the last several years, the result of bad recruiting and missed evaluations in my opinion. But hey, there is always next year.

Lafayette Dickens says:

Seems like Pete Nance has the reluctance to shoot reminiscent of Ben Simmons. Total lack of confidence. Our guys have to get down hill to be effective. We rely on our weakness, perimeter shooting, instead of our strength, scoring in the paint and getting to the line.

Joe Bob says:

Playing 3 on 5 on offense and running no plays is a problem

Joe Bob says:

The team runs zero offense

David Kasey Kelly says:

This 2023 team will go down in the annals of Carolina lore as the most consistently inconsistently team in all of Tarheel history. They are soft, outmatched in virtually every game. No passion, no pride, no plan. Sad to witness their demise. Also no Brady no 23 run. "Run it back" sounds quite comical at this point! #GoHeels

Tony Clark says:

"ALL FINGERS POINT TO ONE PERSON AND ONE PERSON ONLY"!!!!! Leaving players on the bench while starters are continually running this team into the ground is senseless!! What's the difference losing with the bench or losing with the starters?? Same results!! Losing is losing!! At some point Hubert as a head coach has to see that he is the reason for the destruction of this team this season!! They bailed his rearend out last season and this season they can't bail him out when he is doing nothing but trying to either talk or punish them into a winning team!! Not gonna happen!! And may be too late at this point!! Punishment a tool of last resort!! A team can't win much when they are fighting their opponents and their own head coach!!! Either teach them something or find someone "TO" teach them something!! This team looks lost on the court all the time this season!! They are constantly in desperation mode and almost always playing catch up!! Just saying!! Have a great day!!

Tar Heel says:

Sorry, but the problem is Davis is not working out as head coach. Two seasons of underperformance, notwithstanding last season's late run.

Question Everything says:

Major disappointment this year!
MAJOR!
