In the wake of UNC’s on-court struggles this season, many fans have begun to speculate on the likelihood of a mass exodus via the transfer portal. The on-court results haven’t hurt high school recruiting, but will the same be true for hanging onto players like Seth Trimble, Jalen Washington, Tyler Nickel and others? Isaac Schade and Jason Jordan have a discussion about the viability of that speculation.
Because of the strength of the 2024 recruiting class already including Ian Jackson, Elliot Cadeau, James Brown, and Drake Powell, we begin to look at class of 2025 potential recruiting targets. Today’s focus is on Jackson Keith, a sophomore in Durham and why he would make sense in a Hubert Davis system.

Are you worried about players transferring out? If so, who?
Is their time coming next year though? Substitution patterns have shown so far that's not the case for the bench. Hence the 300th+ ranking in bench minutes.
People keep saying pete is not Brady. He don't have to be . He just has To be more aggressive .
There is a log jam at the 3 spot. People say Styles can play the 4 but I think he is a 3 standing only 6’6
I have a question:: Since Hubert doesn't use but basically 5 players for essentially 90% of the time, what is the allure for the bench and new recruits to either stay or come to Carolina after this year?? Hubert has proven this year that he has no idea how to use his bench!! And also, has no idea how to teach his guys how to do anything to improve!! This team has not improved any at all from day one this year!! In fact, continues to get worse by the game!! You guys can sugar coat this all you want, but it does change what's there and what everyone sees!! There's absolutely no and I mean NO leadership on this team and that includes the coaches!!! Can't hope, wish, praise, scream at, or punish a team into a winning team!! You have to teach as well as coach!! Too many coaches think that at this level these players should only need coaching and not so much teaching!! Not true!! Great coaches TEACH as well as coach!! Not happening on Hubert's watch!! Nance was the worst thing to ever happen to us
I could definitely see Styles leaving. Nance and Black don't have eligibility left. If Bacot, Love, Davis, Johnson all come back, we could lose Dunn and/or one of the freshman but not necessarily.
Nickel is finna dip. I would too. Also I hope caleb love goes to the g league or china already
The problem isn't the losing. Its the fact that our starters this year aren't playing good enough to go pro so they will be back for their senior season and Hubert not using the bench all that much will cause the younger guys to transfer. The logic is that our starters were supposed to be going pro after this season and now they probably wont.
Hubert needs to stop playing Nance. He hasn't earned this much playing time and that's not judging him by Manek standards. He just isn't good! We need Jalen Washington in more!
Styles is probably leaving and the kid would have seen more playing time under Dean and Roy,it's sad because Hubert probably has these kids questioning there talent.A question for anyone who may know,could Shaver had played in the Championship game? Because if he could have why did he not hit the court with 60 seconds left in the game, just his big body could have been important on defense and called timeout to get him out after rebounding
The issue isn’t losing, it’s getting zero playing time that makes them transfer
This season is far worse than last year
So returning: RJ,Puff,Dunn, Nickel,Trimble, Washington,and with Wilcher and High coming in. That's 8. So with 5 scholarships remaining you have transfer portal as well as possible reclassification with Jackson and Cadeau.
Realistically,we lose Bacot,Love,Black,Nance,McKoy….Transfer wise I think Shaver leaves and I hate to say but I think Styles leaves also. No need for Puff,Dunn, Nickel or Trimble to go anywhere.
Pete Nance is not Brady Manek and fans can’t expect Brady Manek to walk in the gym and turn things around with this team!…
It is what it is so people just really need to accept the type of season this team is having and move on!!……….✅✅✅

It will be interesting to see who stays and who goes. But don't discount the power of UNC basketball in general but also NIL.
I could see Styles and Dunn leaving. The freshmen will probably stick around for another year. Hubert has shown no consistency for anyone other than the starters. They get their mins no matter how bad they’re playing. Styles is our most athletic player but can’t get off the bench. Jalen is effective but Nance still gets the bulk of the mins. and Jalen hardly plays. Trimble has regressed because he’s uncertain on his role.
Man to Man the whole game is whats killing the Tarheels. Hubert Davis is not giving teams different looks and this team is not fast enough to play Man to Man the whole game because they keep getting beat off the dribble and its also why they get in foul trouble. The other teams have nothing to adjust to because its the same defense the whole game. Its like one on one Basketball. Also its taking away from the offense because they wasting all their energy trying to chase the other team on defense. Zone up sometimes and make the other team have to be shooters instead of getting lay ups and one on one jumpers the whole game.
No doubt about it the Heels will loose at least 3 guys. Styles Nickels and Dunn. And can you blame them Davis doesn't know how to play them. Styles is headed to Vanderbilt with Stackhouse. Nickels is headed to Virginia and Styles to Arizona. Kids has to play especially when the kids ahead of you aren't winning. These guys mean well but have no clue. Davis promising these guys time an they don't get any. These kids coming may pull a stunt like the kid did last year.You know when a kid leave UNC for South Carolina it not a good sign.
When I start to see body language like GG Jackson is currently showing than I’ll be worried until than Go Heels!
