North Carolina got the exact performance and sleepy game they needed as they started ACC Tournament play on Wednesday, aside from the whole “Armando-Bacot-rolling-his-ankle-really-bad” thing. Bacot limped off the floor and returned in the 2nd half but played only until UNC had the game safely in hand. The Tar Heels knocked off Boston College 85-61.
Caleb Love and RJ Davis controlled this game, scoring 40 of Carolina’s 85 points on exactly 50% shooting. Love was engaged on both sides of the court. Leaky Black had a very Leaky Black type game. Pete Nance had four blocks and now has 10 in the last four games.
North Carolina advances to take on Virginia in the quarterfinals and will (hopefully) have Bacot available. If not, the Tar Heels will work to grab a Q1 win without him.

Issac, I was frustrated throughout this game as Carolina had issues with last second forced shots as the shot clock was running out. Poor penetration and poor shot selection. Not a comforting look at all. Stop trying to burn the clock. It doesn't work with this team. But otherwise, they were GREAT.

The game overall had many positive takeaways. I'm pleased that the team actually held onto a lead and even slightly extended it for once. I'm still very nervous for the Virginia game tonight; this team has rarely had back-to-back good shooting games. Hopefully they have the advantage tonight having momentum from playing the night before rather than being tired.

Completely agree with how the game went. We could not have asked for a better game 1. Easy win, not very taxing, and allowed the starters to sit. I disagree about Leaky, though. I agree that he should not hunt his shot like he did against Duke, but if teams leave him open, he needs to shoot it.
If Bacot does not get hurt in the first game against VA they would have 2 wins against VA. So I can see them beating VA in the tourney.
