North Carolina missed out on making the NCAA Tournament, as expected. Unexpectedly though, they also declined an invitation to the NIT. This means the season is over. It also means we’ve seen the last of Leaky Black and Pete Nance playing for the Tar Heels. It probably means the same for Armando Bacot, and his record-breaking career, unless he decides to utilize his COVID eligibility. Coach Hubert Davis issued a statement on deciding to not play in the NIT. Have we seen the last of RJ Davis & Caleb Love? Will any freshmen or sophomores transfer?
As the Selection Show aired, we learned that the Tar Heels were closer to making the field than we imagined. Forces you to think what could have been.
The lady Tar Heels are in the NCAA Tournament as a 6 seed, lower than anticipated, and will travel to Columbus, OH to play the winner of Purdue / St. John’s and then hopefully Ohio St. in the 2nd round.

What are your thoughts? Should Carolina have accepted an NIT invite? Or did they do the right thing in declining?
Terrible sportsmanship they put themselves there its basketball why not play. Duke fan but I have lost all respect I had for this group. And program bad sportsmanship real bad

I am embarrassed that this team was allowed to quit… I would like you to simply ask Coach Davis if Coach Smith would be proud of this decision? I know that he would not be!
Clemson and Virginia Tech were not to proud to go to the NIT. Vanderbilt with Coach Stackhouse is in the NIT !!!!
Coach Stackhouse should be our next Coach. The "Hope" Davis experience will be over in two more years as "Hope" Davis has demonstrated that he doesn't have the "stones" to
lead our program. It really pains me to write this because I thought that he would great. He has tried so hard to demonstrate that he is his own man and will walk in his
"own" shoes…. he has forgot that part of the job is player development! He forgot that Dean Smith played him 7.1 mpg in every game when he was a freshman. He really needs to
figure out why he is afraid to Coach like Dean Smith….
I am so tired of watching Carolina walk the ball up the court, wasting 6-8 seconds… then they start the weave or whatever it is call behind the three point line… waste another 10 seconds before they make a few desperate moves and throw up a bad shot before the shot clock expires… what happened to the fast break and getting a good shot before the defense is set?
I knew the season was over when Caleb Love was 13 / 36 (36.1%) and RJ was 8 / 24 (33.3%) against Alabama !! Caleb played 58 minutes & RJ played 50 minutes; this is simply not Carolina basketball. What I will always remember is that Dean Smith play Scott Cherry against Michigan in the National Championship game and he didn't make a mistake.
"Hope" Davis needs to revert back to the "Carolina Way" or he needs to go just like Matt Doherty, who's ego also lead him down the wrong path.

Definitely, Hubert Davis should look at some of the tournament games, watch some of the portal transfers. There are some still playing. And some are going to be transferring.
So North Carolina is too good to except an NIT invite, huh? This is why I hate putting labels on certain programs like "blue bloods". They really start to believe they're above it all. I hope they hit the skids for a few years to get some perspective back. How is NOT playing going to help your kids for next season? GTFOH with that garbage.
They should have accepted. Seems like sour grapes and a little bit of arrogance, like they think they're too good for the NIT. They're not is the reality. Take the guys who want to play and leave the crybabies home.
I feel they should have played in the NIT and at least played their young players who will be around next season. Players can't grow unless you give them time on the court.
Brady Manek is the simple reason staring us in the face to what happened to UNC this season. Not only was he the best player, he took a bunch of average players and made them better. There’s really not that big a mystery here. Oh yeah, what’s with the hair?
Makes no sense not playing in the NIT – Any player on the planet wants to play another game ALWAYS – This was soley HDs decision.

The criticism of Love has turned into bullying by far too many “fans”. He has plenty of faults but he is not the sole reason this team failed. Yeah he has awful shot selection and body language. Guess who never benched him for those things? Love is far from the only problem
EPIPHANY !! If your Coach and Starters don't want to play. The AD should have put our most promising A.C. as "NIT Coach" play bench guys only. If he wins the NIT. Then let the shame and blame game begin.

Would have been fun to see Washington and Nichol playing the "2 bigs" with tremble, dunn, and stylz playing the guard spot. THIS IS HOW YOU PREPARE A BENCH FOR NEXT YEAR. Oh, wait a minute this coach doesn't play his bench so why would he do that?! Do you think for one second thesse guys (named above) wouldn't love to be on the court in a tournament?? Is there anybody who thinks Hubert should leave now?
