Following Paxson Wojcik’s commitment to UNC on Monday, the Tar Heels still have five open scholarships left to hand out ahead of the 2023-24 season. This is due to the outgoing six transfers – Caleb Love, Puff Johnson, Tyler Nickel, Dontrez Styles, Justin McKoy, and Will Shaver. One target is the “other UNC’s” Dalton Knecht who is rated 5th in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings. Currently, Towson transfer Nick Timberlake is on campus for an official visit after Coach Davis completed a visit to his home in Massachusetts last week. Knecht would make a great addition as a high level scorer and a volume three point shooter who has made 37.3% of his career three-point attempts. Isaac Schade and Pac Kilby also answer the question: If you could have one of the six Carolina transfers back, who would you take and why? Kilby selects Dontrez Styles while Schade takes Tyler Nickel.

I wouldvlove to have Dontrez back. I think his athlectisim and size is something this team needs. This was suppose to be his year.

I love true Tarheel players. Dontrelle is just that. Ofcourse, athletic abilities are very obvious. I wish he had more opportunities in a Tarheel uniform. But, Tyler Nickels to me is going to be a star. We truly let one go there. It really hurt me to see him go. Both of them should still be with us. Wow!
I’ve been saying it for years and years.. UNC best teams has been when the 3 man can score. When we had JP Tokoto we could never get anywhere. We got Justin Jackson we went to back to back championships.

I agree that Dontrez would be my pick as well. He was the one who had the Athleticism that no one else on the team had. The one thing I’ll say about shooting is that it’s all good if you can get your shot off. Some shooters don’t have the athleticism to get their shot off if closely guarded. We need players that can break ppl down off the dribble and cause foul problems for the other team or gets us layups.
