College Basketball Star Chooses More School (& Money) Over NBA | Armando Bacot Making $1M+ Next Year

UNC basketball star Armando Bacot is staying for a 5th year in college (where he’s projected to make 7 figures in NIL money) instead of going pro (where he’s projected to go undrafted in the NBA Draft).

Is this just the start of more players choosing to stay in school longer to make more money?

Matt Leinart won the Heisman in 2004 and stayed at USC for his senior year. Matt was criticized for staying at USC after the Heisman but he wanted to stay there and had a really good game against Vince Young in the Rise Bowl.

If a player knows they are borderline NBA player and making a million plus a year in school. Maybe he is looking at it. Its a million a year which if he played 3 more years it is 3 million extra. Which if done right 3 million is still a good little snap of money to start a business with a 4 year education. And if all fails he has a back up plan set up and ready to go.

Brother Nero says:

He chose UNC over playing in West Bumblefuck not the NBA

I'm a die hard UNC lifer but this is a coward move to me. He's not projected as a lottery pick but will have a chance to compete against the best in the world and prove himself to be a top player. Nope he want's to stay at UNC (for a 5th year) instead of going to the next level and COMPETE. I'll never understand. By doing this he ruined his draft stock, he can't stay in school forever and no one wants a player not willing to compete at the next level.
