On Thursday, D’Marco Dunn became the seventh Tar Heel to transfer out of the program this offseason, joining Caleb Love, Puff Johnson, Dontrez Styles, Tyler Nickel, Justin McKoy, and Will Shaver. When you add in Leaky Black & Pete Nance leaving, UNC is only retaining four of last season’s 13 scholarship players (Armando Bacot, RJ Davis, Seth Trimble, Jalen Washington).
What does Dunn’s late-hour decision tell us? Seems to be a clear indication that someone else is planning to come to join the backcourt and he wants to be able to go somewhere for his final two years where he can find significant playing time.

Just too many guards, so cannot hate one the youngman to look elsewhere. I still would've like to see his 3rd season here, but now we move on and hopefully Simeon and the 2 transfers can hold the fort. Even now there isn't room for Elliot. The remaining openings should go get us a back up center and PF.

Hubert has to win and he knows that. Let’s consider who we lost.
*Caleb: He will forever be in my good graces for what he did to Dook. He didn’t play well this year. Body language was terrible at times. Dean and Roy would’ve sat him down. Hubert was too nice. He needed a change. We needed a change. Fine. Wish him the best. Thanks for the memories. Thanks for sending K to house for good.
*Mckoy: Couldn’t shoot. Was not athletic. Was never going to see the floor next year.
*Puff: Couldn’t stay healthy. We could not consistently rely on him.
*Shaver: Nope. Never. It was a waste of a scholarship. He probably won’t play at UAB either. Now, he’s trolling when we nursed him back to health. Boo!
*Stylez: Maybe should’ve gotten more playing time, but when he was in there this year, he looked lost. Maybe that’s on him. Maybe that’s on Hubert. 🤷🏾♂️
*Tyler Nickel: To me, this was the biggest loss. He should have been playing and that one is on Hubert. He should’ve started over Pete Nance. The End.
*Dunn: that one hurt, but to me not as bad as Nickel. Nickel was bigger and the dog in him was undeniable.
From the looks of it, we have upgraded at every position. If Cadeau comes (and I believe that’s what the Dunn transfer was all about), we are a top 10 team. The kid is that good. This also gives Wilcher the space he needs and I think Wilcher is better than everybody we loss.
Let’s face it. The guys who transferred needed to go and be great somewhere else. If Hubert wanted shooters, he didn’t have it in these guys. Last year was proof. He has upgraded the roster. Add Cadeau and then we get to see if the title run was a fluke. I don’t think it was. Hubert wants to shoot. He didn’t have reliable shooters. Now, it appears he does with a possible assist machine coming onboard.
Let’s see what he does this year. I believe he is the man for the job.
I remember hearing Roy talk about how bad of a shooting team we were his last couple of years. After Hubert took over, he had the same bad shooting team. That's not gonna work in an offense based on shooting and spacing. Brady masked the problem, but we needed a change. We struggled last year, but our poor outside shooting was a huge problem. We missed way too many open three's . Let's see what happens when Hubert has the players to execute the offense.
Im confused is Hubert telling these kids there not getting more playing time next year ? If I was Dunn I would walk up to Ryan and say ok big boy you better out work and play me cause you just ain’t going to take my playing time , but I guess that’s not the mentality of these kids today instead they tuck there tails between there legs and transfer out instead of fighting and competing for there position SMH
Unless there becomes something like an NIL cap or some sort of regulation on it this will be what it is everywhere. UNC is the only program with players jumping ship for fresh starts and fatter pockets
May 1st is Grad transfer deadline.
Hubert better use his bench this year, otherwise he's going to continue to lose players.
The way things are now it seems like everyone who does'nt expect to start the next year leaves.
Me personally I think he transferring bc cadeau gonna reclassify. And Jarin Stevenson is on his 2nd visit so I think commits once cadeau reclass

Oof. SEVEN players transferring out is not a good look for the program. This coaching staff needs to get their act together, pronto. Build and use the bench this season. Get ALL the players invested in the program. Instead, I suspect we've got to spend ANOTHER season of nearly EVERYONE having to learn the new system, none of them being good enough at it in Davis' opinion, and 4 or 5 guys getting all the playing time.
It’s almost laughable how far this program has fallen under Hubert’s watch since halftime vs Kansas. Politician not coach
Bunch of quitters. Especially caleb. The others I can understand but caleb really got to me bc I invested so much emotion watching him. And for him to quit really made me mad. If he went pro I would have been okay.
