North Carolina has officially announced the hiring of Marcus Paige to the men’s basketball staff as the Director of Team and Player Development. Bringing back one of the most beloved Tar Heels of all time to fill the position vacated by Jackie Manuel is a massive boon for Hubert Davis and staff. Perhaps most importantly – so many of the experiences Paige had his freshman season, including stepping into the starting lineup right away, will allow him to provide lots of wisdom and insight Elliot Cadeau who will be in a similar situation.
Paul Finebaum, on Monday, suggested that if and when the SEC targets an ACC school, it should be not Florida State or Clemson or Miami, but rather UNC. Host Isaac Schade believes this is great for Carolina because they could ultimately become desired by both the SEC and Big Ten.

Hubert Davis is creating a lot of positive expectations for a brighter future with the notable addition of Marcus Paige to his staff and Elliott Cadeau to his roster of sharpshooters. Dare I say that he has doused the flames of doubt stoked by a poor record last season and mass exodus of players who bailed in the wake of all that? Personally, I find myself more excited about the upcoming season than bummed about last season and I may be wrong but I don't think I am the only one who feels that way.
Having Marcus on the staff will be beneficial to all the players since he's still young and can connect with them easier. The fact that Coach Davis also was an assistant coach to Marcus adds a different dynamic that I think could add a lot to the coaching staff and team.
BROOOO. I took a break from the internet for a while to come back to a curl-less Isaac! Very odd to see you without the locks. Nice. Anyway.
There are two dynamics that I'm interested in with this Cadeau/Paige connection. One is considering that Cadeau is much more experienced than your average freshman having played with the Swedish national team, one would think he and Paige could have much deeper and more nuanced basketball conversations which may accelerate his learning curve. The other being how Paige and Cadeau will both be learning Davis's system so they can figure those things out together. Some very exciting times coming.
I am certain Cadeau will start. What I am not convinced of is his being a one and done. Selfishly hope he does at least 2.
