There’s been speculation on if UNC would utilize any of their three remaining scholarships for the upcoming basketball season to help solidify the team that is forming. You’ve got your stalwarts in Armando Bacot and RJ Davis, the returning sophomores in Jalen Washington and Seth Trimble, the transfers Harrison Ingram, Cormac Ryan, Jae’lyn Withers, and Paxson Wojcik, plus the incoming freshmen Elliot Cadeau and Zayden High. We’ve learned this week that the coaching staff is at least interested in still having questions with players as they’ve reached out to two West Virginia transfer portal entries.
Nationally, there’s been a good deal of conversation about the shape and scope of recruiting in the present and moving forward. Will teams continue to recruit from the high school ranks or turn towards more portal additions or a combination of both? There are things to be learned about UNC’s approach based on who Hubert Davis is targeting and offering in 2025.

I think Washington can play the 4 or 5 (and will play both). Withers can play 3-5. Getting another big big man allows us, like you said Isaac, to have different types of 5s. The guys on our roster are so flexible in that most of them can play so many different positions. I love it!
