The 2023-24 UNC Basketball Roster Preview series continues this week wrapping up the sophomores with Jalen Washington. We’ve already tackled the incoming freshmen (Elliot Cadeau & Zayden High) and Washignton’s classmate Seth Trimble. Washignton enters his sophomore year coming off his first healthy offseason since he was heading into his sophomore year of high school. Given that – what should Carolina fans expect from Jalen Washington this season? Were his three-point shooting numbers last year representative of merely a small sample size or indicative of less shooting capability than initially imagined? Will Jalen spend more time at the 4 or the 5? Will he be able to start fully trusting his body this year?

Will say with J wash even being 0-7 from deep last year all his misses were on the money in/out shots didn’t take no bad ones either they will start to fall we seen some of our players miss 7 in one game
He's got a nice looking shot with good form . He may be the most talented 4 we have . Can Jalen stay healthy ? I'm stoked for this year . So many new guys to watch and hopefully some double digit scoring from the 3 and 4 spot . Which where glaring weaknesses last year . Leaky and Pete were not giving us the help we needed .
I think y'all have underestimated Jalen's mid range game. His 10-15 foot jumpers are going to be his strong set. That in essence will stretch the floor just enough for Elliott and RJ to attract the basket. It's going to fun finding out just how good Jalen can be….
i have not heard much noise on Washington over the summer. normally, i here about ballers that are impressing coaches and staff over the summer. this is not to say he has not been impressive, i just have not heard anything. all the talk has been on Cadeau with some on ingram and withers.
Jalen staying healthy is the only thing holding him back in my opinion. If he can stay healthy all while going to the gym and constantly improving himself, then he could truly be set to have a breakout season. If this happens, don't be surprised if he starts his Junior season and leaves for the NBA after that. This is a bold take, but Jalen may have the most pro NBA potential on our current roster; it's all a matter of seeing him reach that potential.
He plays like a 4 to me but I would love to see how much strength he added in the gym and how that can make him more of a defensive presence down low
yep the 3pt numbers need to come up based on Hubert's comments. also with 7-4 reach, I would like to see those block numbers shoot through the roof
Are we hoping JW being a 4 or a backup 5 this year? I’m sure he will play both but what is his specific skill set?
