We learned Monday of the official plans for the Carolina’s participation in the 2023 Jimmy V Classic. UNC will play reigning national champion UConn on Tuesday, December 5 at Madison Square Garden in the nightcap on ESPN with Florida Atlantic and Illinois kicking things off. We learned of the full Battle 4 Atlantis bracket last week. Having seen these two events – it’s time to recognize that the Heels have a massive opportunity to make a statement in the non-conference portion of the schedule on the national stage.

The preseason football top 25 coaches poll was released on Monday with UNC coming in at 20. The conference was also represented by FSU (8) and Clemson (9).

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Monday that the ACC is in preliminary talks to add two of the four remaining Pac 12 members – Stanford and Cal. Conversations are ongoing with ACC Ads and presidents. Host Isaac Schade sees pros and cons but ultimately believes this move won’t happen.
