During North Carolina’s exhibition game last week against St. Augustine’s, the Tar Heels switched ball screens 1-4 and Armando Bacot often fronted his man in the post, giving a “no middles” look. Will Hubert Davis’ team employ these different looks during the regular season or was it just a function of trying out something in an exhibition?
Coach Pac Kilby had several takeaways from the exhibition win. Carolina’s speed stood out to him with the likes of RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau getting up the court in a hurry. Even Bacot looks quicker. The Tar Heels also attacked the glass, and Bacot had helpers all around, including leading rebounder Zayden High (11) and Ingram (9). The team chemistry also stood out to Coach Pac.

I hope Ingram can be a confident version of Leaky that can shoot the three. If so, Isaac is right predicting a big season from him.
Good eyes guys. I hope Coach Pac is right & Bacot can do work down in the post. Any center with size or talent pretty much has had their way down their the last few years.

The Heels switching on ball screens should definitely assist with a better product on the defensive end. Last year, we were plagued with defenders misreading the screen and going over when they should have gone under and vice versa. Just another tool in the tool belt. And with out athleticism it should bode well for the Heels this season.
I love PAC’s observations about the “team” component of this group! First time it’s been evident in several years. It will make us a big winner this year.
The question for Unc basketball is can play this kind of defense from the start of the season until he end of the season so we can live up to the hype
