UNC puts LeHIGH low down | Armando Bacot goes OFF | Big day for RJ Davis | 4 Corners Recap

North Carolina hosted Lehigh on Sunday, the second game of the season. Armando Bacot started off hot on the glass and never looked back. Bacot and RJ Davis tied for the lead with 22 points each. UNC still has lots to work on, but thankfully has time to do so. Harrison Ingram will play a pivotal role with this team.

The UNC football team won a thrilling game over rival Duke on Saturday, needing two overtimes to finish the job. Drake Maye was exquisite as always; escaping several dead-to-rights situations. It was a career day for Tez Walker and Omarion Hampton ran rampant yet again.

BIGG KUSH says:

BIGG KUSH CHECKING IN lil late

Justin Wrenn says:

shouldnt be worried at all outside of davis and bacot everyone is basically new it will take time to find that rythem

John Cramer says:

I think we need to go nine deep and think Jalen Weathers needs to be one of the first guys off the bench his athleticism ball hand an overall skill is what this team needs he could easily be a starter

The Nintenerd says:

I'm not concerned yet. This was the most complete early pre-season "bye" game in the Coach Davis era, and yet there was still lots of experimentation with lineups. If this team doesn't improve as we get into the tougher parts of the schedule, then I'll be concerned, but right now a little bit of adversity can actually be helpful with how new this team is.

David Reed says:

Cheers to Rob Landry getting his first collegiate points.

Will Allison says:

Lehigh got hot from 3 and then hit a couple late ones to get it to 22. We were cruising by 25-26 most of the end of the game. Perimeter defense is a slight concern, but since we're switching everything 1-4, it will take some time for the guys to really figure that out. We're getting good looks and those will fall more than not most nights. They are a smart and experienced team that will figure it out sooner than later on the defensive side. Go Heels!!! Im not to worried about it yet..

Todd Lucas says:

1. Lehigh played Bacot straight up so he went off for a 20-20 game and therefore there were limited catch and shoot 3 point opportunities for Carolina. 2. Shot distribution has been good with Mando, RJ, Ingram, and Ryan taking the most shots in that order. 3. Percentage of shots from 3 is 29% so far vs. 37.6% last year. 4. Ingram has shown he can rebound from the 4 spot. Possibly an issue against teams with 2 bigs but there aren’t many of those and we have options. 5. Zayden High is surprisingly ahead of Washington in the rotation due to his activity. 6. Biggest issue is defensively on the perimeter with Lehigh and Redford guards scoring one on one. Will need to shore this up as we go against higher profile guards. Carolina has a team of good but not great defenders (other than Trimble), so need the TEAM defense to improve with familiarity over the course of the season.

Jeff McDowell says:

I which everyone would quit worrying! The tarheels will be fine! I love the makeup of this team! I like the experience! Believe me they will come together! Just a few more games to gel together! Believe me it's coming and they will be unstoppable!!!

Robert Dixon says:

The Heels are now #20 and cooking !

Steven Green says:

Well we held them to 36 fg % and they only shot 4 free throws to our 28 free throw attempts our defense is fine our team is way better this year than last year

Mike Shaw says:

That Lehigh was within 3 in the second half is a concern. I do really like that coach is plating more. If that causes some early issues getting used to each other so be it. They need to breath these teams but they do need to get playing time for the new teammates.

Stay vigilant! says:

But where I question this is why can other teams blow these teams out early by 25 plus points? Like Duke Kansas and Kentucky? We fell to #20 bc Lehigh played us tight until midway thrugh 2 half

michael riggs says:

Sometimes teams that run have a few more turnovers but remember they also sometimes have more possessions.

D has to improve.
Off shooting night led to fewer assists.

I like this team more than last year. They seem to be having more fun for one. But, they gots work to do.

Adereio Jones says:

Our Defense needs some work because yesterday showed that Cormac, Ingram and others will have off nights. I feel we’ll get there. Side note…Mondo has to show better restraint if he doesn’t receive the ball right away. Elliott didn’t throw it to him right away and he was jumping up and down causing a scene which is not the behavior you want to display to a Freshman

Sam Jones says:

I was at the game and Elliot could easily have had 5 or more assists had the guys receiving his passes had scored. Most often they were heavily fouled which was why they didn't finish. The freshman was great. And after the game the young man was on the floor shooting by himself.

Meat Tooth says:

I feel better about this team than last year so far. However, Heels did not decimate their 1st two mid-majors in either year. Pretty similar results. Heels did not pull away from their 1st 2 games until the final 10 minutes or so. If the Heels can become a well oiled machine by March, they will have as much as chance to win it all as anyone. The talent and pieces are there. They have a starting and 2nd five. Just need to get acclimated to one another and start hitting 3s.

ted Maynard says:

Carolina BBall is now a bit like their FBall in that both depend on their offense to make up for poor defense. FBall faces an emergency to fix the problem if the season is to finish on a positive note; BBall has plenty of time to fix defensive shortcomings. Lehigh looked like it was hitting all of its threes, and some of the credit goes to them, but some of it has to be poor UNC defense against it. Don't want this kind of defense when it comes to tournament winner-keep-all time.

Darius Little says:

❤❤❤ Everyone #StayEncouraged and make it a great start to the week.
