UNC basketball showed highs & lows in win vs Tennessee basketball

No. 17 North Carolina defeated No. 10 Tennessee 100-92, in the ACC/SEC challenge. Tim Donnelly points out how UNC basketball played to their peak in the first half, but also showed signs of the team that missed the 2023 NCAA Tournament in the second half.

Tennessee is truly a top 10 team in thr nation. Purdue and Kansas barely beat them. While i wasnt happy with the 2nd half, it's not realistic to think they weren't going to make a run. Also, all year, this team has been making 2nd galf runs and starting slow. They did the opposiite and showed versatility. UNC will be okay this year!!!

Carolina didn't immediately have a poor performance at the beginning of the second half but rather somewhere around the mid-mark of it. Their shots stopped falling and Tennessee had the luxury, if you can call it that, to take chances since they had such an uphill challenge trying to overcome a large deficit. But did they really cause a panic in the UNC ranks? I don't think so and if not for Donavan Knecht going off in that half Tennessee really didn't pose anything other than a potential threat. I don't believe they got the score down to more than 7 points and UNC always had an answer which was usually R. J. Davis. You're damning Carolina with faint praise not really wanting to concede they're a very good team. And Ingrahm started playing much better when the game was on the line at the end.

That first half was the best that I've seen them in a long time! And then they stumbled to the finish line. Knecht was un-guardable, though. Until they began to trap him at the top.

The difference is that UNC has small guards. It's going to be a problem for the rest of the year.

Good news is that they could not stay in front of Elliot Cadeau. My man had 10 assists and no TOs. That's HUGE for Carolina!

This game wasn’t as close as the final score indicates. Tenn. lost. And they needed a guy to play out of his mind & still lost. NC did end the game. They played the top defense and top 10 team. Did you expect Tenn. do roll over in the 2nd half? This is a horrible take. People never give UNC credit. When they win it’s always “should have won by more”. Your take is a joke 😂

@alfonsohoward2211 says:

Why do you think that Tennessee was not going to be Tennessee at some point in that game, the game is divided into halves, who ever ends both halves with the most points wins the game and Carolina ended up with the most points.
Carolina is not a finished product by far here in November, they might improve, but one thing I am positive about is they are not last season's team.

Unfortunately, this review should have been shelved and another day pass before reviewing the game. Tenn is #10, obviously they were going to make first half adjustments. UNC is 6-1 and should be 7-0, it would be coaching malpractice to even think to do what is suggested for film review. So, I will just chalk this review as not quite ready for primetime.

You're a paid sports talking head. This isn't good content. Hope you can come up with better stuff or you'll end up like the ncsux homers ovies and giglio

Feels like they had a good run in the first half off the crowd the real tests are UConn and Kentucky on neutral sites

@user-ov6jt5kt4y says:

Great win as this practically new team builds chemistry. Games are 40 minutes not 20. UNC won over a top 10 team and it never was really in question. Defense needs to improve on a one loss team so far this year. Looks like they are possibly back and anyone can pick apart any team if you try hard enough. Don't try so hard to find criticism because you sound like a hater on a one loss team. Most teams would like to be in UNC's position. Maybe that's why your criticism is so obvious. You are normally more objective and less biased sounding.

@SirGalahadThePure says:

This is kind of a bad take. I get what you're saying, but you act like Tenn didn't have anything to say about how the game would end. They are a very good team that got their act together in the 2nd half. Sure it would be great if UNC had closed them out, but they weren't playing Lamar University.
