Tuesday night inside the world’s most famous arena a banged up UConn team reminded us yet again why they are 100% capable of repeating as national champs while North Carolina has some work to do to reach that same elite level.
The hot take is going to be people trashing UNC’s defense & that they were exposed, but this is more about the efficiency and balance of UConn’s offense
For example, Carolina did a really nice job on Donovan Clingan, but the Huskies had 4 other players in double figures, they can beat you in a multitude of ways.
RJ Davis continues to be an absolute dude on offense – notching his 4th straight game of 25+ points and has now hit 33 straight free throws; meanwhile Harrison Ingram added 20, but Carolina didn’t get enough offense from either Armando Bacot or Cormac Ryan.
Carolina has everything in front of them they could want & now have 11 days before a matchup with Kentucky in the CBS Sports Classic.

UNC played well for what they are. They are small 1-5 and don’t create turnovers. UConn just has better players and are well coached.
Bacot has been playing better against other skilled big men recently. Not amazing, but has some moments.
Trimble needs to be in the starting line up. His defense has always been good & he’s starting to score this year.
Cormac is looking like Love 2.0. If he doesn’t hit his first three he needs to stop shooting them. One a half is enough wasted shots. Stop throwing that garbage up.
Great to see RJ being RJ out there. Him & Ingram need some help putting points on the board.
Withers is looking like the guy I was worried he would be & not the guy I believed he would be.
I haven’t heard anyone claim height advantage since playing my little brother in the backyard as kids.
I wish EC could shoot better. Bacot needs to come off the bench for Washington…. I also would consider putting Cormac on the bench for wojcik. Wish we woulda played styles last year because I would rather have him over cormac right now…
TBH if UCONN was fully healthy not missing gimme 3's and missing easy oops this is a 20-25 point loss for UNC. Bacot isn't built to handle this kind of pressure in the post offensively and UNC didn't miss a single open 3 they had. Ingram and Davis both shot well. The biggest problem here is scheme and depth of rosters. I think UNC can make a run, but it was easy to see just how outmatched they were vs this UCONN team. I like the optimism but this game wasn't as close as the score made it out to be. UCONN was up 17 with 4 minutes left and took the air out of the ball. If they kept pushing the way they had from minutes 12-4 and were fully healthy this would've been an even more horrendous defeat.
Bruh, Uconn is not a top 5-10 team. That team is top 3 and will likely be the clear #1 when they get healthy.
This is the problem when you don’t develop your own talent Styles and Nichols and you go get transfers that weren’t good at their last school. Ryan,Withers and Woj should’ve never been at UNC. We can’t guard and it won’t change this season
As a Uconn fan, i thought NC was really solid for 13-14 minutes, but then got really sloppy, missing bunnies, and that was essentially the game. RJ kept them in it with big time shots and plays in the second half.
On another note, what an incredible atmosphere for an early December game. It really felt like there were stakes.
With Davis, Bacot and Ingram, i think NC can make a solid run this March. Not sure all the way to FF, but certainly elite 8 if they are playing well.
Bacot needs to develop more moves off of footwork. He’s not an elite athlete and has always struggled against bigger defenders.
