The North Carolina Tar Heels captured the first matchup with Duke of the season, Hubert Davis’ first home win over the Blue Devils and first win over new coach Jon Scheyer. UNC was able to get the nine-point victory with RJ Davis having an extraordinary performance, in fact he was the third leading scorer behind Armando Bacot and Harrison Ingram, who both recorded 20-point, 10-rebound double-doubles. Seth Trimble added 10 points off the bench – can he do that more consistently? Cormac Ryan showed his veteran savvy in two specific moments, responding immediately to miscues with a winning play. The teams will meet (at least) one more time this season, but for now, the Tar Heels hold the edge over the Blue Devils and the whole of the ACC.

UNC's win over Duke was a statement win. It showed that this team has the heart of a champion, knows how to elevate their game in big moment situations, and can take down the greatest of opponents even when your top scorer, RJ Davis, isn't your top scorer. Two critical components of UNC's success were without a doubt, strong rebounding on both ends of the floor and shutting down Duke's potent offense every time they attempted to make a run. Keep this up and the Tarheels will be cutting down nets in March and in April.
Gotta give credit to Elliot. Immediate turn around on his FT shooting. That 3 aint dropping and the touch needs some work but many of those he took, although misses, were right there. He's turning a corner
#Flip did get alot of wide OPEN looks cause of a lil over help, not recognizing the guard has his man contained but that can be cleaned up but It happens several times a game when we play a big who can shoot.

Mando plays like Mando again, RJ keeps being RJ. Ingram and Cormac especially Cormac be more consistent on offense. Bench stay solid. Then this team can cut down the nets this season.
