The No.25 Tar Heels cruised at home to an easy 96-36 victory over Western Carolina. Alyssa Ustby paced the Tar Heels with 23 points on 11 of 17 shooting to go with 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Paulina Paris notched 16 points and Indya Nivar chipped in 15 points in 19 minutes for UNC.

North Carolina plays 14th-ranked Kentucky on Saturday, December 16th in Atlanta. The Wildcats come into the matchup only having lost two games this season – against Kansas and UNC Wilmington. And, it will be the first time back on the court for the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team after a long break for exams.

Playing away from home again, Auburn picked up right where it left off Saturday with another impressive performance Wednesday night to beat UNC Asheville 87-62 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Offense carried the day against Indiana on Saturday. This time, it was the defense that took over midway through the first half and early in the second half, helping the Tigers pull away.

“We turned up the defense,” Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl said. “When you play like that and you play that hard, it’s the ultimate sign of being unselfish. I thought we got some offense from our defense. We came out of the start of the second half, executed better and really took control of the game.”

North Carolina has a key opportunity to log another resume-building win on Saturday, this one being against Kentucky. It’s always an electric game when these two Blue Bloods face off and this matchup should be no different. This game will feature two elite offenses, spear-headed by the respective backcourts going to work. Can RJ Davis, Elliot Cadeau, Cormac Ryan, Harrison Ingram, and Seth Trimble help control the tempo? Will Armando Bacot have a big game? Has Ryan found his touch? Will Carolina look rusty? Or come out guns blazing?
