The 2023-24 UNC Basketball Roster Preview series continues, wrapping up the juniors. We’ve already tackled the incoming freshmen (Elliot Cadeau and Zayden High) and the two returning sophomores (Seth Trimble and Jalen Washington) along with the first junior – Stanford transfer Harrison Ingram. Today’s target is West Virginia transfer James Okonkwo.
Okonkwo is the back-up big man Carolina needed to bolster the thin front court availability. Will Okonkwo, who hasn’t been playing basketball for many years, continue to trend towards an unknown ceiling? Battle 4 Atlantis & Jimmy V Classic: Time for UNC to make statement | Coaches Poll | Stanford & Cal?
We learned Monday of the official plans for the Carolina’s participation in the 2023 Jimmy V Classic. UNC will play reigning national champion UConn on Tuesday, December 5 at Madison Square Garden in the nightcap on ESPN with Florida Atlantic and Illinois kicking things off. We learned of the full Battle 4 Atlantis bracket last week. Having seen these two events – it’s time to recognize that the Heels have a massive opportunity to make a statement in the non-conference portion of the schedule on the national stage.
