The #9 Blue Devils defeated one of their other in-state rivals, going on the road and defeating the Wolfpack, 79-64. Duke led by three at halftime but then shot 62.5% from the floor in the second half to pull away late. Four Blue Devils scored in double-figures with Jeremy Roach leading the way with 21 points. Jared McCain had 16 points and five rebounds. Tyrese Proctor added 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists. For NC State, DJ Burns Jr. scored a season-high 27 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out four assists.

It feels like it’s been an atypical basketball team for Adam Gold, when looking at UNC this season. Does Adam Smith agree? The No. 10 Duke Blue Devils jumped all over the Virginia Cavaliers, building a 40-18 1st-half lead on the way to a 73-48 final. Kyle Filipowski scored 15 of his 21 points before the break as Duke pulled away. Tyrese Proctor added 15 points and Mark Mitchell chipped in 10 points in the win. Reece Beekman scored 18 points to lead the Cavs in a losing effort.

There has been fear that North Carolina relies too heavily on RJ Davis, particularly coming off his 42-point performance vs. Miami. Simply zoom out to realize that the Tar Heels have been led in scoring by four different players in the last four games (Armando Bacot, Cormac Ryan, Davis, and Harrison Ingram). It also helps that they have a dynamic playmaker in Elliot Cadeau, who, by the way, can also call his own scoring number.
