RJ Davis unleashed a historic performance on Monday night inside the Smith Center, the highest scoring individual game by a player in the history of the Smith Center – and his team needed every one of those 42 points to get over the hump against a Miami team that was playing with house money. Is it bad for your superstar to go off like that rather than a balanced attack? What happened to North Carolina down the stretch? Why did things get so tight, so quickly? The bench trio of Seth Trimble, Jae’lyn Withers, and Jalen Washington yet again delivered some incredibly helpful minutes for their team in holding off Miami’s comeback.

The No. 9 North Carolina Tar Heels outlasted a shorthanded Miami Hurricanes team with a 75-71 victory. RJ Davis bounced back from a tough game at Virginia by posting a career-high 42 points in the win. Davis shot 14-22 from the field, including 7-11 from three-point range in the win. Norchad Omier scored 22 points, and Bensley Joseph scored 21 points on 5-8 shooting from three-point range in the loss.

The Tar Heels won their third game in a row and did so in grand fashion upsetting in-state rival No.6 NC State, 80-70. Lexi Donarski had quite the night as she notched 23 points and grabbed 4 rebounds, and Alyssa Ustby had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for UNC. Aziaha James led all scorers with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists for the Wolfpack.

Northwood HS and Chatham Central matched up last night in the conference championship game! UNC commit Drake Powell put on a show and led Northwood to the win.
