Elizabeth Kitley tied a season-high with 34 points on 11-17 shooting, and she grabbed six rebounds. Georgia Amoore scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half. Amoore also had 11 assists and became the all-time leader in assists in Virginia Tech history. For North Carolina, Deja Kelly had 29 points, two rebounds, and two steals.

North Carolina finally won at Virginia, for the first time since February 25, 2012. The did so despite stars RJ Davis and Armando Bacot having a combined two points at halftime. How so? Cormac Ryan went off in the first half, nailing five threes and nearly outscoring Virginia by himself in the first 20 minutes (Ryan 15, Virginia 16). Bacot and Davis were able to get going enough in the second half and the bench contributed some key minutes from Seth Trimble, Jalen Washington, and Jae’lyn Withers. Elliot Cadeau critically had six assists and just one turnover. Is this a sign that UNC is ready to face any type of competition that comes their way in March?

North Carolina guard RJ Davis bounced back from an off-shooting night against Virginia with an explosion of 42 points in the Tar Heels’ 75-71 win over Miami in front of a raucous crowd in Chapel Hill. The 42 points marked a new scoring record in the Dean Dome and marked a career high in scoring for Davis, as he knocked down 14-22 shots, including 7-11 from three-point range, to go along with 6 rebounds in the win. With his 6 rebounds, Davis became the first player in school history to compile 1,800 points, 200 three-pointers, 500 rebounds, and 300 assists in a career.
