Northeastern vs. North Carolina: The North Carolina Tar Heels handled their business at home with a 82-62 win over Northeastern. It was a balanced attack for the Tar Heels as four players scored in double figures in the win. Day’Ron Sharpe led the way with 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Garrison Brooks recorded another double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Heels. UNC played tough defense throughout the game, holding Northeastern to 36% shooting from the floor and causing 16 turnovers that led to 22 points. Tyson Walker had an amazing first half for Northeastern, scoring 21 of his 27 points before the break.
The North Carolina Tar Heels handled the Northeastern Huskies, 82-62. Day’ron Sharpe led the Tar Heels in scoring with 15 points, and he grabbed 8 rebounds in the victory. Kerwin Walton added 14 points, Garrison Brooks an 11 point, 13 rebound double-double, and Caleb Love dished out 9 assists for the Tar Heels. Northeastern was led by Jason Strong’s 27 points.

Michael Jordan was named consensus National Player of the Year in 1984. Tyler Hansbrough earned that honor in 2008 and is the conference’s all-time scoring leader. James Worthy was named Player of the Year in 1982, the same year he was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
