Duke vs. North Carolina: The No. 5 Tar Heels defended their home court as they pulled away late in another chapter of their storied rivalry against the Blue Devils, 90-83. Joel Berry II tied for the game’s high scorer with 28 points, going 5-5 from 3-point territory. Luke Kennard would also score 28 points to lead No. 17 Duke.

The North Carolina Tar Heels opened their season with a win at home over the Syracuse Orange, 31-6. The Tar Heels defense led the way, tallying 7 sacks in the win. Quarterback Sam Howell threw for 295 yards and 1 touchdown, and running back Javonte Williams rushed for 3 touchdowns.
