For my summer vacation, I’m in North Carolina so as a sports fanatic what better place to visit than UNC in Chapel Hill. I visited the Carolina Basketball Museum, which was an awesome experience and then went in to Dean Smith Center. Also I got to stand on a college football field at UNC. For any sports fanatics planning on visiting North Carolina I highly recommend visiting UNC.

Roughly 10,000 UNC fans, students and alumni at the Dean Smith Center watch the Tar Heels defeat Gonzaga in the 2017 NCAA Basketball Championship Game. Filmed by Gene Galin for the Chatham Journal newspaper and ACC Basketball News.

Feb. 24, 1979. High scoring Duke is favored at home over UNC. Coach Dean Smith decides to hold the ball and stall for the entire first half. His plan backfires as his team doesn’t score a point; Duke leads at halftime 7-0. Those seven points come back to haunt UNC as Duke wins by 7 points – 47-40. This game is credited with leading to the creation of the collegiate shot clock.

This locker room celebration has been a long time coming for the Tar Heels as the team gets its first win at Duke since 2012. The win also secured the regular season ACC championship for the squad.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels 95-91 in ACC college basketball.
